A tailor-made strategic consulting session for Camino Ruiz Agencies: discover their cross-feedback with Procidys
The Farm’Innov acceleration programme is currently supporting 14 Kenyan agri-food companies on their path to innovation and success through a tailor-made 10-month support programme, which will run until February 2026. It includes immersion visits in France, consulting services and training provided by French experts from the Valorial network, as well as a number of Kenyan experts.
Camino Ruiz Agencies (pioneering force in the tilapia fish industry, overseeing the complete value chain from sourcing to distribution in Kenya) has benefited from personalised support from Procidys (French consultancy and research company in the agri-food sector, specialising in the valorisation of co-products and the development of biotechnological processes). Here is their cross-feedback on this consulting service.
Farm’Innov:
“You took part in a consulting provided by Procidys in the framework of the Farm’Innov Acceleration Programme. Can you share what you studied with the consultant? And what did you gain from it?”
Loreen Wanjiru, Head of programmes, Camino Ruiz Agencies:
“Through the consultancy, we explored the development of a new product derived from the fish skin waste generated during our filleting process. This initiative not only helps us reduce waste but also supports the transition toward a circular economy within our business. By transforming by-products into value-added solutions, we can improve our waste management practices while offering clients innovative products that contribute to their health and well-being.”
Farm’Innov:
“How do you intend to implement the advice and recommendations shared during the consultancy mission within your company?”
Loreen Wanjiru, Head of programmes, Camino Ruiz Agencies:
“We plan to integrate the recommendations by first conducting further research and development on the fish skin by-product to validate its potential applications and market value. This will involve pilot testing, quality assessments, and engaging with potential partners, including further engagement with Procidys for product formulation. In parallel, we will adapt our processing operations to ensure sustainable and efficient waste conversion. Ultimately, the goal is to scale this initiative into a commercially viable product line that reduces waste, strengthens our circular economy model, and creates added value for both our company and our customers.”

Farm’Innov:
“You took part in a module of the acceleration programme. What did you gain from it?”
Charles Delannoy, CEO, Procidys
“This programme enabled Procidys to meet and support a Kenyan company in its project to promote fish by-products.
We realised that this company had great potential, both commercially, with promising developments in the marketing of tilapia and derived products, and in terms of the relationships it had forged with fish farmers. It also had great potential on a technical and scientific level, with the trials it had conducted internally to develop the collagen production process.
We carried out a study to identify the products and processes that could be implemented by this company to develop high value-added products such as collagen for use as a food supplement. We hope that these developments will enable Camino Ruiz to enter these new markets.”
Farm’Innov:
“How do you plan to use it in your activities?”
Charles Delannoy, CEO, Procidys
“Procidys wishes to continue its collaboration with Camino Ruiz by helping them to implement this process at the pilot and industrial stages. If this project could be brought to fruition at the industrial stage thanks to this collaboration, it would be a great success for this partnership. Procidys has thus been able to work on a new marine species, Tilapia, which allows us to enrich our skills and knowledge in the field of marine products.”
