A tailor-made strategic consulting session for Ngong Veg: discover their cross-feedback with Foodinnov
The Farm’Innov acceleration programme is currently supporting 14 Kenyan agri-food companies on their path to innovation and success through a tailor-made 10-month support programme, which will run until April 2026. It includes immersion visits in France, consulting services and training provided by French experts from the Valorial network, as well as a number of Kenyan experts.
Ngong Veg (leading player in the vegetable canning sector, with a focus on delivering farm-fresh produce that is carefully processed and packaged to maintain its nutritional value and flavor) has benefited from personalised support from Foodinnov (France’s leading private group in the fields of innovation, food R&D and nutrition). Here is their cross-feedback on this consulting service.
Farm’Innov:
“You took part in a consulting provided by Halieutica in the framework of the Farm’Innov Acceleration Programme. Can you share what you studied with the consultant? And what did you gain from it?”
Victor Onzere, Farm technical and compliance, Ngong Veg:
“The acceleration programme is truly valuable, and an eye-opening experience for us at Ngong Veg. Working with Géraldine on the project around diversification into baby food, purees, and soups gave us a completely new perspective on our production potential. Beyond the technical aspects, we gained clarity on processing technology options, food safety considerations, product development, and how these products can be positioned for the market.
What stood out most was the very practical, hands-on approach and the openness with which ideas were exchanged. It felt less like a consultancy and more like a genuine partnership built on trust, learning, and shared ambition.”
Farm’Innov:
“How do you intend to implement the advice and recommendations shared during the consultancy mission within your company?”
Victor Onzere, Farm technical and compliance, Ngong Veg:
“We intend to use this experience to structure our journey into value-added production progressively. The insights into processing technology, workflow design, and market expectations will directly inform our future investments and product development strategy.
More importantly, this project has strengthened our confidence that Ngong Veg can successfully move into processed products that meet high-quality and market standards. It has also shown us the true value of international collaboration in accelerating innovation and growth. This goes down for us as one of the most lively interactions we`ve had.“

Farm’Innov:
“You took part in a module of the acceleration programme. What did you gain from it?”
Géraldine Gourlaouen, Innovation and R&D Manager, Foodinnov:
“International collaboration with companies whose needs and constraints differ from those in France is always very rewarding.
I was impressed by the expertise and organisational structure in place at Vgong Veg. It is a real pleasure to be able to contribute my expertise and a different perspective to this Kenyan company. Bringing an international dimension to business support is very motivating.”
Farm’Innov:
“How do you plan to use it in your activities?”
Géraldine Gourlaouen, Innovation and R&D Manager, Foodinnov:
“Taking part in this module has really energised me; this opportunity to work with an international company that is already very well structured has enabled us to take our analysis even further, and the perspective we’ve gained has benefited our clients.
This experience has given me a broader outlook; sharing experiences and learning from different approaches is something I will draw on when working on new projects.”
